wet sleeves

wet sleeves are the worst.
they make me want to burst.
might as well be in a hearse
because these wet sleeves are the worst.

Coachella vs. "Staychella" !

San Francisco is constantly and passionately pulsating with new music; if the city is the heart, the people are the blood, and bands are our oxygen...!

As thousands of San Franciscans made their way to Indio, California, for a crazy Coachellerific weekend of musical debauchery, I enjoyed my first staycation ever and personally handcrafted my very own musical experience I dubbed "STAYchella"!!!

So many bands performed in the bay prior to or after performing at Coachella.. they know this is where the real fun is! So, as my second year NOT going to Coachella and being in San Francisco instead, I knew this year's Staychella would be amazing!

7 DAYS OF CONCERT CRAZINESS!

The Appetizer was Edward Sharpe, Erykah Badu, and Devendra Banhart only a few weeks ago.. And then the real fun began!

Day 1 - Monday, April 12
Toro Y Moi
Toro was the cutest little number I have seen in quite a while. He performed at the Bottom of the Hill; a venue known to support some of the most up-and-coming artists of the year. He opened for an Kiwi band The Ruby Suns which rocked the mic right.
If you like Toro.. check out his homeslice Les Sins...tres daft punk!
8/10

Day 2 - Thursday, April 15
Miike Snow
The Independent featured Dolorean and Miike Snow last Thursday. The unique look of the band members of Dolorean was definitely a point of interest, and almost trumped how well they played.
Miike Snow was incredible. They opened wearing white masks which apparently is customary.. The light show supported the club beats and catapulted me back to a place that I forgot I still remembered.
I wish Miikey connected with the crowd a little bit more and engaged in some kind of exchange with us, but overall, I very much enjoyed the show. They did some crazy remix shit and it was off the chain.
For real, boo.
9/10

Day 3 - Friday, April 16
Hot Chip
These guys had the crowd going wild!!! The Fox Theatre of Oakland has never seen so much energy I'm sure.
XX , another English band, opened for Hot Chip and had a great vibe.
Hot Chip was phenomenal. Through some twist of fate, my friends and I actually got to hang out with them before and after the show!! The highlight was my conversation with Joe, " I love Hot Chip! And I particularly enjoy your role in the band..." hahahahahhaa..... Joe is rad.
I made drinks with Al, and discussed travels with Alexis. Overall, a ridiculously amazing night.
Thanks for the drinks and the shotglass all the chocolate! (they had a MASSIVE gift basket full of ghirhadeli goodness) LOVE YOU GUYS!
10/10

Day 4 - Saturday, April 17
Florence and the Machine
OMG. IT NEVER STOPS. FLORENCE WAS SERIOUSLY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her energy was never-ending, and her "performance" was beyond belief.... The mezanine handled her VERY well.
15 / 10

Day 5 - Monday, April 19
Vampire Weekend
Though I felt that Contra wasn't nearly as good as their first album, I still really liked it a LOT. The Fox Theatre Balcony seating doesn't allow for much leg room, so we stood and danced as much as we could which made the concert even more fun.
I think Contra may actually have been an excuse to tour and show off music from their first self-titled album - which only makes me love VW even more..
Yay for all of my fave VW oldies, and my fave VW newbies, yielding a show that was fun and fantastic!
9/10.

So, looks like STAY-CHELLA was an overall success!!

I'd like to thank the bands for coming out and sharing their time with us. It was such a pleasure!!

Love,
me :)
